Ish
ISH is a very straight forward honest man. He says things that people misunderstand and sometimes people get offended, but ISH doesn’t intend to hurt anybody. He is sincere and battling with himself to overcome his fetish of chubby women. ISH makes decisions about his business and his personal life but doesn’t share them with anybody; the people around him have no idea what he is up to. Therefore, people are trying to understand him and want to know how all these decisions will affect them. ISH has his own way of dealing with things. Sometimes these things can be very problematic but in the end he pulls it off.
ISH is secure with Don and Laura. Laura isn’t chubby and Don is not handsome, so there is no competition or desire. He never owned a gym before. He is in the business because he can have easy access to chubby women, but he has no idea that this can get him in trouble. He hits on every woman who comes into the gym. He is very flirtatious with women and sometimes he makes it so obvious that people don’t know whether he is really hitting on them or if he has no idea what he is doing. English is his second language. People are rooting for him because of his likable personality. |

Laura
Laura grew up in Northern California. She is the daughter of an executive secretary and an accountant. With her parents’ blessings and moderate apprehension, she moved to Los Angeles after High School to begin a career as an actress. After waiting tables for a year, Laura started taking classes in health and fitness at Valley Community College. She eventually earned an associates degree in physical education; in the process becoming a certified trainer and aerobics instructor. Laura worked in several health clubs part-time until she answered a craigslist ad for a full-time employee at Ish’s club. As she happily moves forward in this career path, the same cannot be said for her personal life. It seems that she can only meet men at the gym, men so self-obsessed that they have neither the time nor the resources to discover Laura’s inner beauty. Even so, she is still hopeful that Mr. Right is out there. She’s old enough to know that chasing him is futile. Each morning she repeats her life mantra before leaving the house: “I am a good, well-liked person. I will do my best to be my best. But love myself even if I fail.” |

Don
Don is a fan of Anime and Comic Books, He walked into NOHO Gym because it used to be a comic book store. Don liked what he saw when he walked in, so he worked out a deal for membership with the Gym which gave him another part time job and free membership. Don doesn't really work out, but he is very helpful around the gym. Don is fearless with beautiful women, but not successful. Don is an all or nothing sort of guy. He's actually good at many things, but when he takes something on, he takes it on to excess. Don thinks that video surveilance camera's are manned at all times, and will actually talk to the person on the other side of them, saying such things as "Don't judge me." or "yeah, like you'd be any better." or "what are you looking at." If something moves, Don is likely to give the item a voice and a personality, like a talking stapler. In a high pressure situation, if Don lies but then can't bear the pressure, he'll say, "Just Kidding". Don likes to have people explain why a joke is funny. "That's funny! Why is that?" Sometimes when people talk too long, Don zones out, and then he tries to compensate by figuring out what the person might really want. |

Liz
Liz (short for Elizabeth) Berman was born and raised in Casa Grande, Arizona. Liz is the eldest of three girls; Denise and Paula. Denise lives in Scottsdale, AZ and Paula lives in Phoenix. Both are married with children. Liz worked at the one local mall in Casa Grande at the Lancôme counter at Macys. When she “suffered” an unexpected divorce she applied for a management position and a change of address; Los Angeles, CA. She works at the Lancôme counter at the Macys in the Beverly Center and has aspirations of becoming a district manager. Liz, who hates being called Lizzie, belongs to an Oprah Book Club. This is the highlight of Liz’s social life as the club functions more as a coffee clutch and gossip session. Liz regales her fellow book-clubbers with tales from the gym, painting herself as more involved in the business than she is and more “involved” with Ish than she is! |

Nancy
Nancy Dupree Elliott is a well-to-do woman in her late forties trying desperately not to join the First Wives Club. Married mostly happily for the past 23 years, having raised one daughter now in college, she has noticed her attorney husband spending more and more time at his office and taking lots of “clients” out to dinner. She worries that his absences may have to more to do with the lovely new secretary at his firm, and has noticed (a bit belatedly, since her bulb is more a 60 watt than a 100) that he doesn’t seem to want her quite as much as before. This doesn’t sit well with Nancy, whose life has always revolved around her home and who couldn’t support herself if she tried. One day, persuaded by the ads she is constantly bombarded with (being a radio junkie and TV soap-aholic), she realizes that her body has lost some of its youthful tautness, and decides that toning up and losing weight is the key to recapturing her marriage. Nancy is almost preternaturally oblivious and relentlessly cheerful. She makes friends with everything—people, animals, even inanimate objects. The gym, with its clients, trainers, equipment, and even mats and towels, will become her new little world, to be embraced and befriended. This may drive some of her companions slightly batty, but Nancy won’t let it stop her--not because she wouldn’t care, but because she won’t notice. |

Beau
My friends call me Beau but my real name is Beauford Harold Jenkins III, after the legendary Colonel Beauford Jenkins II. That’s my father. As the only son amongst 3 sisters, Dad had great aspirations for me, his only boy, to follow in his footsteps, joining the military and such. It was a great shock to Dad when his “only boy” took to Barbie Dolls instead of G.I. Joe. So, I go by Beau now. I follow my own foot steps. |
